We also took in Beatrix Potter's house, Hill Top, I bought hipster jeans and plaid shirts at Mountain Warehouse, Ambleside and we chilled with the swans and Japanese tourists at Bowness.
I can recommend the Cuckoo Brow Inn - if only they would stabilise and uprate their woeful WiFi!
