Way past midnight I lie sleepless. Grunting and shuffling in the front garden below suggests much to an over-active imagination, but I know it's the badger, digging under our composting frame in search of egg shells. The next day brings confirmation: a new pit - plus strewn detritus.
We're rejoicing in our newly opened Waitrose (5 minutes walk away!) which we visited again two days after its opening on Thursday. We didn't need to dig a pit to get in: they were quite welcoming.
How happy were we? Check the picture.
